Oh great, another recall! This time you need to check your freezers! A Walmart Stores Inc supplier has recalled frozen pizzas in 11 US states due to concerns about possible listeria contamination.
Approximately 6,700 pizzas sold under Walmart’s Marketside Brans were affected. RBR Meat Company recalled 21,220 pounds of Marketside Extra Large Supreme Pizza. They were shipped to retail centers in California, Nevada, Utah and Washington state. The products carries the code 20547.
Walmart and the USDA were not aware if illnesses linked to this products. The retailer immediately started removing the products from shelves and inventory.
The pizzas were available in California, Colorado, Nevada, Washington state, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, Alaska and Hawaii, Walmart said. Sam’s Club was not affected.
The contamination was discovered during routine sampling. Consumers should not eat these pizzas. An estimates 1,600 people contract listeriosis each year and 260 die according to the CDC.
